About Me

I am a seasoned professional clinical mental health nurse with 17 years of expertise. I have an excellent track record in delivering exemplary nursing care within secure care environments e.g. prison, forensics units and substance misuse clinics. I have held multiple leadership roles, exposing me to challenges faced by individuals with mental health needs. This has given me deep understanding and enhanced knowledge in delivering evidenced-based care.

I am associated with the NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) which ensures a high standard of practice and constant upgrading through the revalidation process. Since qualifying as an independent prescriber (V300) and running my own clinic, I have developed an interest in pharmaceuticals and mechanisms of mental health medication.

Working in the forensics setting has exposed me to how under-diagnosed patients with ADHD are compared to other forms of co-occurring mental health illness. Working in this setting, I have encountered patients with incorrect mental health labels which could have attributed to their re-offending. The most rewarding aspect of my practice is witnessing the positive transformation in people’s lives once the right diagnosis and treatment is underway.

A continuous learning and development approach to my knowledge base allows me to perform my role professionally. My renewed interest in ADHD is helping me to transform lives positively, especially adults with ADHD when they discover their “eureka” moment.

Outside my professional life, I enjoy spending time with my husband and three children, going to the gym, travelling, and listening to music.
