At ADHD360, we know and understand the importance of ADHD in women and the impact hormones can have.

For many women their ADHD symptoms fluctuate throughout their menstrual cycle.

Having an awareness of the affects of the different phases of your cycle helps our clinicians to offer more personalised care and treatment.

Why should I track my menstrual cycle?

Many women report struggling more during the Luteal phase of their cycle.

The luteal phase comes after ovulation, this is when progesterone falls before the period. It’s around this time that your clinician may consider a change in treatment options to provide better support.

How will you take my menstrual cycle into consideration in my treatment plan?

By keeping a simple diary of your symptoms and where you are in your cycle you’ll be able to explore the how your ADHD symptoms are effected as your hormones fluctuate.

Your clinician can then personalise your care around when your ADHD symptoms may be harder to manage or customise your treatment plan if it feels that your current treatment loses efficacy during certain parts of your cycle.

What should I track about my menstrual cycle?

Alongside your ADHD symptoms and any medication side effects, its helpful to track your mood and energy levels during the phases of your cycle.

It’s also helpful to make a note of any significant changes or patterns you notice. Plus any questions or points you’d like to discuss with your clinician.

How should I track my Menstrual cycle?

You can track your menstrual cycle in whatever way works best for you.

Some prefer to use an app tracker, or the notes app on their phone. While others prefer to use a physical note book.

Our ADHD360 Menstrual cycle tracker is a great place to start.
